Fertilizer Bagging Machines

Technopark Automation & Control manufactures fertilizer bagging machines and has developed the capability to design complete bagging plants for fertilizer on a turnkey basis in accordance with customer requirements.

Technopark Automation & Control and its founding company Calculus System Projects have since 1981 built up its repertoire as manufacturer of fertilizer bagging machines in South Africa and has developed the capability to design complete bagging plants for fertilizer on a turnkey basis in accordance with customer requirements.

With granular fertilizers and other free flowing granular products it is common to use gravimetric pre-weighers for speed improvement fitted with pneumatically operated feed gates and product feeders that allow for fast and slow feeding of the products. Two types of fertilizer bagging machines are used: equipment where the fertilizer product is weighed before discharge, so-called net weigher, into the container or bag, and so-called gross weighers where the fertilizer product is weighed as it is being fed into the bag or container.

When it comes to bagging machines for fertilizer powder products, it is customary to use screw feeders and vibratory feeders and, in some cases, belt feeders for the feeding of the product from the feed bin to the weighing mechanism.

The throughput requirements of the specific installation will determine the design of the bagging machine line. This is normally specified in units/min or in volume (mass) per hour for the fertilizer throughput.

Further consideration must also be given to the environment in which the fertilizer packing machine will operate – is it a hazardous location or a safe area?

Fertilizer bagging plants

Technopark Automation & Control can assist you with your fertilizer bagging plant conceptual layout and design. We also focus on the fertilizer batching and blending aspect of the operation. This furthermore includes recipe handling facilities of the different fertilizer compositions.

Our fertilizer handling equipment is robust and contact parts are fabricated from stainless steel. In case of high capacity fertilizer plants the raw material proportioning will be based on belt weigh feeders to provide optimum accuracy. In case of lower capacity fertilizer plants, raw material batching will be utilized. The final fertilizer product can be bagged into conventional 25 or 50 kg bags or into bulk bags.

We can provide you with fertilizer plant supervisory control systems including PLC and SCADA front end. A high emphasis is placed on raw materials management reporting of the fertilizer raw materials and final product.

Our fertilizer bagging plants are reliable and cost effective and present the user with a high return on investment.

Gravimetric vs Volumetric Filling

The advantage of a load cell based or gravimetric filling system over various volumetric filling systems for fertilizer is that the system can compensate automatically for fertilizer raw material density changes and maintain high levels of accuracy on a continuous basis without any manual system adjustments.
